Recent updates on Pakistan’s participation in the ICC T20 World Cup indicate that the team plans to fly to Sri Lanka on February 2. Reports suggest that the Pakistan squad will travel on an Air Lanka flight alongside members of the Australian team.

Both teams are currently engaged in a T20I series in Pakistan. Pakistan’s final tournament position is pending an official announcement.

Babar Azam-Led Pakistan Set for February 2 Departure

According to Hindustan Times, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had issued an official statement confirming the team’s departure plans, which was later modified. The travel details were initially included in the release but were omitted in the version shared subsequently.

Media outlets in Pakistan quickly confirmed the travel plans, sharing the information on social media.

The government is expected to announce its final decision on Pakistan’s participation on February 2, making that date significant.

Mohsin Naqvi’s Statements Add to Confusion

The PCB chairman has contributed to the uncertainty with mixed messages in recent weeks. He previously criticized the ICC for “double standards,” stating that Pakistan would only participate in the World Cup once cleared by the government.

Naqvi, who also serves as the interior minister, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss this issue. Reports suggest that a decision will be made public on February 2, coinciding with the team’s planned departure.

This situation has increased confusion for both players and the general public.

India vs Pakistan Match to Be Played in Sri Lanka

The T20 World Cup is set to start on February 7, with Pakistan scheduled to play all its matches in Sri Lanka. India, too, will head to Sri Lanka for their games following an agreement between the two cricket boards.

The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match is slated for February 15 at a neutral venue in Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh Protest Changed Tournament Picture

Due to security concerns, Bangladesh has opted out of traveling to India for the tournament, prompting Pakistan to issue a warning about potentially skipping the match against India. As a result, Canada will take Bangladesh’s place in the event.

The PCB will issue an official announcement regarding travel plans, as matches are set to begin after February 2.
