The term “Odommo,” meaning “indomitable” in Bengali, is the name of a new T20 tournament being launched by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Bangladesh has confirmed it will not participate in the 2026 T20 World Cup, resulting in a significant gap in their cricket schedule. The ODOMMO tournament is expected to fill this void.

This tournament will take place over five days, from February 5 to February 9. It will feature three teams: Dhumketu XI, Durbar XI, and Duronto XI. Litton Das, who was previously set to captain the T20 World Cup squad, will lead Dhumketu XI. Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain Durbar XI, and Akbar Ali will be at the helm of Duronto XI.

Similar to leagues like the Big Bash League and Indian Premier League, ODOMMO will implement the Impact Player rule.

What is the prize money for the players?

A BCB official informed Cricbuzz that the tournament will feature a total prize money of 2.5 crore taka, approximately INR 1.87 crore. This amount will also cover players’ salaries. The official stated,

“We will be giving match fees along with other things. We are expecting to announce a good amount as prize money, and all these efforts are taken to make sure that the tournament is competitive.”

BCB erases A+ contracts

There have been discussions about the Board of Cricket Control in India eliminating the top tier of their Central Contracts—the A+ category. The Bangladesh Cricket Board is reportedly doing the same.

The BCB official confirmed this to Cricbuzz, explaining that players currently do not participate in all formats regularly, leading to the decision to remove A+ contracts. The official noted,

“We are not having any A+ category in the central contract this year. None of our cricketers are currently playing across all three formats regularly, which was one of the prerequisites.”

Additionally, it was mentioned that the BCB’s cricket operations committee has prepared a provisional squad of 27 players, awaiting board approval.
