WPL 2026: Wareham Reflects on Making an Impact With Bat and Ball

In the Eliminator match of the 2026 Women’s Premier League, Gujarat Giants faced a tough challenge against Delhi Capitals. However, veteran player Beth Mooney’s excellent performance helped them reach a total of 168 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. She scored an unbeaten 62 runs off 51 balls, hitting 6 fours. The Capitals struggled in bowling, giving away 25 extra runs. GG managed to score 103 runs in the last 10 overs, with Mooney consistently adding runs even as wickets fell.

Gujarat started poorly, losing star batter Sophie Devine early for 6 runs off 9 balls.

Anushka Sharma made a brief impact with 16 runs off 13 balls, hitting two boundaries, but her dismissal left GG with two wickets down for just 38 runs. The team faced a major setback when captain Ashleigh Gardner was out without scoring, leaving the score stuck at 38.

The dismissal of Kanika Ahuja for 6 runs put the team in a precarious position with only 59 runs on the board. Mooney then teamed up with all-rounder Georgia Wareham, adding 61 runs for the fifth wicket. After Wareham’s dismissal, Delhi hoped to slow the scoring, but Kashvee Gautam contributed a quick 18 runs off 10 balls, including 3 boundaries, allowing the Giants to set a challenging total.

Chinelle Henry stood out for Delhi with three wickets, and Nandani Sharma took two wickets. The winner of this match will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final on February 5.
