Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh criticized Pakistan for threatening to boycott the T20 World Cup 2026 match against India, urging the PCB to follow through if they are serious.
The Group A match is set for February 15 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The Pakistan government has stated that the team will participate in the ICC event but will not play against India.
Harbhajan discussed this issue in a recent YouTube video.
“What do you aim to achieve with this? It’s just arrogance. If you really think you can stick to this threat, then do it. Let’s see if you have the courage,” he said.
Harbhajan accused Pakistan of making unnecessary noise and urged the government to consider the fans eager for a match against India.
“This is all just drama to show support for Bangladesh. That’s fine, but have you thought about your own people who want the India-Pakistan match?” he added.
The T20 World Cup 2026 will start on February 7, co-hosted by Sri Lanka and defending champions India.
Harbhajan noted that Pakistan did not withdraw from matches against India during the Asia Cup 2025, even though the event was moved to the UAE after India was originally set to host.
He mentioned that Pakistan still played in those games despite strained relations between the two countries.
“This match is planned for a neutral venue, and there was no conflict. Despite past issues, you played in the Asia Cup. There was trouble over the trophy, but the matches continued because you wanted that revenue. If you truly love your country, where was your patriotism then? You showed no concern for your own country, but now want to support another,” he concluded.
