The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to start on February 7, with a special Captains’ Day event planned for February 5. This event allows team captains to engage with the media and discuss preparations and expectations for the tournament.

Captains’ Day serves as a media platform before major tournaments. It gives captains a chance to share their thoughts on team dynamics and generate excitement among fans.

This year, the ICC will hold Captains’ Day in two cities: Mumbai, India, and Colombo, Sri Lanka. This setup allows teams from the host countries to interact with the media more easily while staying close to their competition venues.

Taking place just two days before the tournament begins, this event will set the tone for the World Cup.

12 team captains to attend Captains’ Day in Mumbai

Mumbai’s Captains’ Day will feature 12 team captains on February 5, held at the BCCI office in Wankhede Stadium.

Captains from India, Afghanistan, Canada, England, Italy, Namibia, Nepal, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, the USA, and the West Indies will be present. They will participate in two media sessions divided into two groups.

The first press conference will start at 3:00 PM, followed by the second at 3:30 PM. Captains will discuss their team strategies and objectives for the tournament.

Mumbai will host key matches, including contests between India and England, as well as South Africa and New Zealand, making it a central media hub.

The event will showcase initial team developments before the tournament kicks off.

Colombo to host Captains’ Day for eight teams

Colombo, Sri Lanka, will also hold its Captains’ Day event on February 5, featuring captains from Sri Lanka, Australia, Ireland, the Netherlands, Oman, Pakistan, the UAE, and Zimbabwe.

This meeting will take place at the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA). Like in Mumbai, these captains will also have their press conferences in two groups, with Group 1 starting at 12:00 PM and Group 2 at 12:30 PM.

The Colombo event allows teams to engage with the media locally, minimizing travel stress for players while improving coordination for the ICC.

This event is particularly notable as Australia and Pakistan will send their top teams.

Where to watch ICC Captains’ Day live in India

Indian fans can watch the ICC Captains’ Day event live on television and online.

The event will be broadcast on the Star Sports Network, with online streaming available on JioHotstar.

The coverage will include official ICC content along with captain press conferences and media events from both Mumbai and Colombo, building excitement for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
