The Mumbai Cricket team has received a significant boost for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2025-26 quarter-finals with the return of all-rounder Shardul Thakur and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Both players are part of the 16-member squad that will compete against Karnataka, starting on February 6.

Thakur and Jaiswal missed recent Ranji matches. Thakur was sidelined due to a calf injury from the Vijay Hazare Trophy, while Jaiswal’s absence caused some uncertainty, even within the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), as there were no International commitments at that time.

It was later disclosed that Jaiswal had to undergo an endoscopy after suffering from severe food poisoning during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Pune. Although he is still recovering and unable to perform at his best, Jaiswal seems ready to participate in the quarter-final.

Thakur’s return is crucial as he will captain the team in this important match. Alongside Thakur and Jaiswal, the squad features key players like Sarfaraz Khan, Siddhesh Lad, Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, and Tushar Deshpande. Wicketkeeping responsibilities will be shared by Aakash Anand and Hardik Tamore, with Musheer Khan and Suryansh Shedge also included in the team.

Mumbai has to make two mandatory changes due to injuries. Aakash Parkar will miss out due to an injury, while Shams Mulani returns to the squad after recovering from his health issues. Suryansh Shedge has also been brought back, given his strong performances for the Mumbai Under-23 team.

Mumbai squad:

Shardul Thakur (capt), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Musheer Khan, Akhil Herwadkar, Siddesh Lad, Sarfaraz Khan, Aakash Anand (WK), Hardik Tamore (WK), Sairaj Patil, Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Tushar Deshpande, Mohit Awasth, Omkar Tarmale, Divyesh Saxena, and Suryansh Shedge.
