The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming white-ball tour of England Lions, set to take place in Abu Dhabi. The tour consists of three T20 matches followed by five 50-over matches, aimed at giving valuable experience to emerging cricketers in Pakistan.
The T20 matches will start on February 20, while the one-day series is scheduled from February 27 to March 9. All eight matches will be held at the Stadium Oval in Abu Dhabi.
Before heading to the UAE, the Shaheens will have a seven-day training camp in Karachi from February 11 to 17.
Left-handed batter Shamyl Hussain has been named captain for both formats, highlighting the selectors’ trust in his abilities. He will lead a batting lineup that includes Abdul Samad, Hasan Nawaz, ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars Player of the Tournament Maaz Sadaqat, and Saad Khan.
The squad also includes promising U19 talent Sameer Minhas, who has earned his spot due to strong performances, along with his brother Arafat Minhas. They both made notable contributions during the ICC U19 World Cup and the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars.
Wicketkeeping duties will be shared by Rohail Nazir and Saad Baig, enhancing the squad’s flexibility. In bowling, Arafat Minhas will be backed by leg-spinner Saad Masood and left-arm wrist spinner Sufyan Moqim to create a varied spin attack.
The pace attack will feature U19 fast bowler Ali Raza, joined by Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Mohammad Salman, and Shahid Aziz, forming a strong seam-bowling group suited to the conditions in Abu Dhabi.
Off the field, the team will have experienced guidance, with former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed serving as mentor and team manager. Former Test cricketer Ijaz Ahmed Jr will be the head coach, while Mansoor Amjad will focus on fielding and Aizaz Cheema will oversee the bowling unit.
The series against the England Lions is anticipated to be a key part of Pakistan’s talent development, providing young players the opportunity to perform against robust competition in challenging environments.
