Ravichandran Ashwin highlights Scotland’s key player for T20 World Cup 2026
Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has identified Scotland’s Brandon McMullen as a player to watch in 2026. On his show, Ash ki Baat, he mentioned tracking the all-rounder since his strong performance against Australia in the previous World Cup. He praised the 25-year-old for his ability to maintain a high strike rate:
“Then you’ve got Brandon McMullen. Brandon McMullen played in the last World Cup and in the Australia vs Scotland game, he scored a brilliant 50. And ever since, he’s been one of the key players. I’ve been keeping an eye on him. He’s a player to watch out for me.” Ashwin said.
Scotland’s T20 World Cup 2026 approach in India
Ashwin believes that Scotland, despite their last-minute entry, has a strong batting side that could surprise major teams. He pointed out that while their bowling might be limited, their top-order batsmen demonstrate solid skills. He specifically commended Michael Jones and captain Richie Berrington for their ability to execute precise shots. Ashwin discussed the team’s strengths:
“I think Scotland are a good T20 team. They have some ability in the bowling… but they’ve got classy batters. In the form of Richie Berrington and Michael Jones, especially Jones is a classy player who plays really strong. He’s someone you can definitely expect classy strokes from.” Ashwin concluded.
