On February 3, 2026, during the One Day Cup, also known as the Dean Jones Cup, Victorian fielder Ton Rogers made an incredible one-handed catch to dismiss Queensland’s batter Marnus Labuschagne. Labuschagne hit a strong cover drive off Austin Anlezar but Rogers, positioned at covers, leapt and caught the ball with his left hand in a fraction of a second.

Victorian coach Chris Rogers later called the catch “one of the best I’ve ever seen live,” highlighting the challenge of making such a catch with the non-dominant hand. This dismissal left Queensland struggling at 3-17 early in their innings, from which they could not recover.

Victoria secured a 7-wicket victory over Queensland
On February 3, 2026, Victoria won their match against Queensland in the One-Day Cup at the MCG, chasing down a target of 216 runs with 33 balls to spare.
Batting first, Queensland was all out for 215 runs in 49 overs after a shaky start at 17 for 3. Cameron McClure and Austin Anlezar each took two wickets in the powerplay, dismissing Jack Clayton, Hugo Burdon, and captain Marnus Labuschagne cheaply.
Wicketkeeper Jimmy Peirson fought hard, scoring 65 runs off 92 balls, while Hugh Weibgen added 33. Todd Murphy stood out with the ball, recording figures of 3 for 29 in his 10 overs, helping to restrict Queensland to a run rate of 4.38.
In response, Victoria’s innings was marked by a solid third-wicket partnership between Thomas Rogers and Peter Handscomb. Rogers contributed 69 runs from 107 balls, building a steady innings. Handscomb played an impressive innings, finishing with 90 runs off 107 balls, hitting six fours, and earning the Player of the Match award. Together, they added 123 runs for the third wicket, effectively sealing the game. Blake Macdonald supported Handscomb as Victoria finished at 216 for 3 in 44.3 overs.
This victory marked Victoria’s second win of the season, impacting Queensland’s chances for the title, as Tasmania had already secured a place in the final.
