Vedant Trivedi, an 18-year-old cricketer, played a key role in India’s U19 match against Pakistan on February 1 during the U19 World Cup 2026. India won by 58 runs, securing their place in the semifinals.

India U19 faced a challenge early in the game, falling to 47/3 while batting first. Vedant stepped up, displaying maturity and helping his team stabilize. He scored his first fifty of the tournament in this critical match.

Trivedi made 68 runs off 98 balls, with two fours and one six. India finished with 252 runs, making it tough for Pakistan to chase. The bowlers then dismissed Pakistan U19 for 194 runs in 46.2 overs, securing India’s advancement to the semifinals alongside Australia, England, and Afghanistan.

Vedant Trivedi’s International Experience:

This U19 World Cup marks not the first time Vedant has played for India. He has previously represented the country in Youth Tests and Youth ODIs.

To date, Vedant has played in two Youth Tests and 15 Youth ODIs. Earlier this year, he was part of the India U19 tour of South Africa and also participated in the multi-format tour of Australia in 2025-2026. He has scored 198 runs over three Youth Test innings and 433 runs in 14 Youth ODI innings.

Impressive Performance in Inter-District Tournament:

Vedant has proven his ability to score big runs across various formats. He scored 185 runs while playing for Ahmedabad in the final of the Reliance Inter-District Men U-19 Multi-Day Tournament against Surat.

His innings of 185 runs came off 208 balls, featuring 21 fours and three sixes. Ahmedabad declared their innings at 626 runs for 7 wickets, while Surat was all out for 324 runs, leading to Ahmedabad’s victory based on a stronger first innings.

Notable Century in U19 Cooch Behar Trophy:

Vedant has excelled in domestic Cricket since a young age, notably representing the Gujarat U-19 team. One of his standout performances came in the semi-final of the 2024-25 U19 Cooch Behar Trophy against Uttar Pradesh, where he scored 145 runs in the first innings, helping Gujarat advance to the final. He also scored 77 runs in the quarter-final against Bengal.

Century Against Australia:

During the 2025–26 tour of Australia, Vedant scored his first century for India U19 in the opening Youth Test in Brisbane. He made 140 runs off 192 balls, including 19 boundaries. The match received attention as another teammate, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, also reached the hundred mark.

India U19 won the match by an innings while maintaining a 58-run lead. Vedant emerged as the top run-scorer of the two-match Youth Test series, accumulating 198 runs in three innings at an average of 99.00.
