India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir declined to comment on Pakistan’s decision to boycott matches against India ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. Although the Pakistani government has allowed their team to participate, they will not play against India in the tournament.

As Gambhir arrived in Mumbai for the event, he was met by a crowd of reporters and photographers. While he acknowledged their greetings regarding the T20 World Cup 2026, he did not address questions about the boycott.

Despite repeated inquiries from the media, Gambhir continued walking without responding. He was dressed in a black full-sleeve T-shirt and jeans, carrying a backpack.

India’s first match in the tournament will be against the USA on February 7 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Gambhir aims to secure his second ICC title as head coach, having led India to victory in the 2025 Champions Trophy against New Zealand.

Gambhir has faced various challenges since he started his coaching career, particularly in Test Cricket. However, under his leadership, India has excelled in T20I matches, winning the 2025 Asia Cup after defeating Pakistan in the final.

Since taking over as head coach in July 2024, Gambhir has built an impressive T20I record. India has played 32 matches, achieving 27 wins, 4 losses, and 1 no-result, resulting in an 84.38% win rate after their recent 4-1 series victory over New Zealand.

As one of the top teams in the T20 World Cup 2026, India, the defending champions from 2024, will compete to retain their title, marking a significant achievement in sports history.
