Harshit Rana has been excluded from the ICC T20 World Cup, as reported by the Indian Express. Mohammed Siraj is expected to take his place.
The team management was informed of Harshit’s injury on Thursday evening. Although Suryakumar Yadav previously indicated that the all-rounder might stay in the tournament, sources now confirm that Rana is not fit to play in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
“Harshit Rana is not out of the World Cup and the medical staff is assessing his condition. However, he doesn’t look good,” Suryakumar stated.
When asked about the impact on the team if the fast bowler fails to recover, Yadav replied, “It is a blow for the team because our combination was based on 15 players. We will miss him if he is ruled out. We have enough options among the fast bowlers, and we will choose the best replacement. Harshit was useful as a batter at the No.9 position, but now the first eight batters will take charge.”
Rana sustained a knee injury during the warm-up match against South Africa. He left the field after struggling with his delivery stride on two occasions and showed discomfort while clutching his knee.
