Eshan Malinga, Sri Lanka’s main fast bowler, is doubtful for the T20 World Cup 2026. The right-arm pacer, known for his sling action, has faced injury issues but was still included in the team. He dislocated his shoulder while bowling during a match in Pallekele and left the field after his second over against England.

It was later reported that Eshan would be sidelined for four to six weeks for recovery. Despite this, the selectors kept him in the final squad. The team, led by Dasun Shanaka, includes three fast bowlers with Dushmantha Chameera and Matheesha Pathirana as the other two.

Shanaka addressed Eshan’s fitness during a captain’s meeting in Colombo today, stating that the medical team will provide a detailed report on his condition. Eshan must regain his fitness before the matches, as Dilshan Madushanka and Pramod Madushan are potential replacements for him.
