In the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 match at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, Indian batters struggled against the USA bowlers. After losing the toss and batting first, India scored only 161 runs for 9 wickets, despite the pitch being favorable for batting. Abhishek Sharma was out for a duck, and Ishan Kishan (20 off 16) and Tilak Varma (25 off 16) managed to add 37 runs for the second wicket before getting out quickly.

Shivam Dube also fell for a duck, and the designated finishers, Rinku Singh (6) and Hardik Pandya (5), could not contribute significantly. Axar Patel was out for 14, leaving India at risk of a total below 140 runs.

However, captain Suryakumar Yadav played a crucial innings, scoring 84 not out off 49 balls, including 10 fours and 4 sixes, helping India reach a more respectable score.

Shadley van Schalkwyk stood out with the ball, taking four wickets. Harmeet Singh also performed well, picking up two wickets while giving away only 26 runs in his four overs. The Indian batsmen did not spend enough time at the crease to adapt to the pitch.
