India faced challenges in batting but secured a 29-run victory against the USA in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 opener. The USA ended their innings at 132/8 while chasing India’s total of 162 runs at the Wankhede Stadium. Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel each took 2 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj claimed 3 wickets. For the USA, Milind Kumar, Shubham Ranjane, and Sanjay Krishnamurthi were the top scorers, each contributing 34, 37, and 37 runs respectively.

Earlier, captain Suryakumar Yadav played a crucial role, scoring an unbeaten 84 runs off 49 balls, bringing India’s total to 161/9. His innings included 10 fours and 4 sixes. Shadley van Schalkwyk managed to take 4 wickets in the match.
