Indian bowler Mohammed Siraj commended captain Suryakumar Yadav after he was named the Impact Player of the Match during India’s T20 World Cup 2026 game against the USA on February 7 in Mumbai. Siraj highlighted Suryakumar’s remarkable performance, noting that the bowlers had enough runs to defend on a difficult pitch.
India faced challenges on a tricky surface, finding themselves at 73/6 at one point. Suryakumar then made a significant contribution, scoring 84 runs off 49 balls, which included 10 fours and four sixes. His steady yet aggressive innings allowed India to set a competitive score, earning him the Player of the Match title.
Siraj also made an important impact with the ball, achieving impressive figures of 3/29 in his four overs. His disciplined bowling helped India secure a comfortable victory by 29 runs.
“Thank you Daya. Surya bhai, what an innings. You led the team to the target we aimed for. We thought 170 was a good score. Arshdeep bowled excellently in the powerplay. Overall, it was a strong performance. We need to maintain this momentum. Good luck to everyone,” said Siraj in a video released by the BCCI.
Siraj was brought into the Indian squad as a replacement for Harshit Rana, who was ruled out due to a knee injury. Jasprit Bumrah was also unavailable due to a viral fever, allowing Siraj to join the playing XI. The Hyderabad-born pacer is expected to remain in the Indian team for the next match against Namibia on February 12 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
