Romario Shepherd made history at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 as the first West Indies player to achieve a hat-trick in this tournament. This milestone occurred during Match No. 3 against Scotland at Eden Gardens on Saturday.
Shepherd’s incredible performance not only excited the crowd in Kolkata but also was key to West Indies winning by 35 runs, giving them a strong start to the tournament.
Shepherd’s hat-trick that changed the game
His historic hat-trick took place in the 17th over of Scotland’s innings. Bowling accurately, he took out wicketkeeper Matthew Cross, followed by Michael Leask, and then Oliver Davidson in three consecutive balls.
Shepherd’s impressive over continued as he sent Safyan Sharif back for a two-ball duck on the last ball, completing a four-wicket over that firmly turned the match in favor of West Indies.
