The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Team of the Tournament for the U19 World Cup 2026, which showcases numerous young talents. After a perfect run, ending with a significant 100-run win against England in the final, three players from Team India have made it to the top 12. The selection was made by experts, including Ian Bishop and Andy Flower, demonstrating India’s strong talent pool as they claimed their sixth title.

Leading the squad is 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a left-handed opener who accumulated 439 runs in the tournament. His remarkable 175 runs off just 80 balls in the final set a new record for the highest score in a U19 World Cup final. Suryavanshi’s mix of traditional and aggressive batting earned him the Player of the Tournament award and a place in the global XI.

U19 World Cup 2026: The all-round excellence of Kanishk Chouhan

Another notable player is Kanishk Chouhan, who played a key role in India’s middle order and provided crucial support with the ball. He scored 113 runs at a strike rate of 116.49. Chouhan’s ability to stabilize innings during critical phases was essential, and he also contributed to the bowling attack, achieving a solid economy rate of 4.52.

Henil Patel: The spearhead of the bowling attack

The final Indian representative is pace bowler Henil Patel. While Suryavanshi gained attention for his batting, Patel stood out with his bowling, taking 11 wickets throughout the tournament. His standout performance included 5 wickets for 16 runs against the USA in the group stage. Patel excelled in the Powerplay overs, making him one of the tournament’s most threatening bowlers.

While India and England, represented by captain Thomas Rew, Ben Mayes, and Manny Lumsden, made up a significant portion of the selections, the team also includes standout players from other countries. Sri Lanka’s Viran Chamuditha, who scored the most runs in the tournament with 192, and Afghanistan’s Faisal Khan Shinozada, also made the list due to their impressive performances. The bowling lineup is enhanced by Pakistan’s Ali Raza and Afghanistan’s Nooristani Omarzai, creating a well-rounded team that highlights the top talents from the 2026 edition.
