Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has expressed his support for Vaibhav Suryavanshi following the young batter’s impressive century in the U19 World Cup final against England. In a post on X, Tharoor praised Suryavanshi as a “generational talent” and noted similarities with Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Suryavanshi’s exceptional performance in the U19 World Cup has drawn attention from Tharoor, who has called for the selectors to promote the young player to the senior team. Tharoor referred to Suryavanshi as a “generational talent,” likening him to the iconic Sachin Tendulkar.

In the late 1980s, Sachin Tendulkar was quickly brought into the senior Indian team after showcasing remarkable skill in Mumbai. Now in 2025, Suryavanshi has made his mark through age-group competitions and has captured fans’ attention with an outstanding debut season in the IPL, positioning himself as one of cricket’s top prospects.

“Vaibhav Suryavanshi deserves to be moved up to higher honours. The last time we had a 14-year-old genius, it was Sachin Tendulkar, and we didn’t delay his rise,” Tharoor wrote on X.
