South Africa triumphed over Afghanistan after two Super Overs. Kagiso Rabada’s two no-balls in the 20th over contributed to the match going into a Super Over. The scores remained tied, leading to a second Super Over. Tristan Stubbs and David Miller scored 23 runs, which proved decisive against Afghanistan.

Afghanistan’s opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit Keshav Maharaj for three consecutive sixes but was dismissed on the final ball.

In the post-match press conference, Ryan Rickelton shared his thoughts on the game, stating, “Cricket is thrilling. It was an amazing contest. I can’t explain how it felt. I’m glad we made it.”

He also expressed support for Rabada, indicating that the team would allow him some time to process the game. “We will give him space but will be there for him. We will bond over drinks later. He will always play a crucial role,” he remarked.

With this victory, South Africa is close to advancing to the Super 8 stage of the tournament. Unless there are surprises, New Zealand and South Africa are set to progress from Group D in the T20 World Cup 2026.
