Rohit Sharma has enjoyed success in both the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy, winning them twice. His six wins in the Indian Premier League (IPL) highlight his strong performance as a player. However, one trophy remains his focus — the ODI World Cup.

After stepping back from Test and T20 Cricket, Rohit is concentrated on winning the 2027 ODI World Cup. He led the Indian team in the finals of the 2023 World Cup but faced a tough defeat against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The batter from Nagpur is now fully committed to the 2027 tournament, which will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, following their disappointing loss.

During a recent event, Rohit became emotional while discussing his dreams of winning the World Cup. He explained that the 50-over World Cup was the pinnacle of his cricket aspirations as a child. The T20 World Cups and IPL started after he began his International career.

Rohit expressed his desire: “I definitely want to win the World Cup for my country. I grew up watching this 50-over World Cup. There was no T20 World Cup, no IPL, no World Test Championship back then. It used to happen every four years, and winning that trophy meant everything to me. I really want it, so I’ll do everything I can to achieve it.”

Rohit Sharma is one of the top ODI batters in cricket history. He has played 282 matches, scored 11,577 runs, with an average of 48.85 and a strike rate of 92.75. The Mumbai player has tallied 61 half-centuries and 33 centuries in ODIs. He finished the 2023 World Cup as the second-highest run-scorer, just behind Virat Kohli.
