Sri Lanka achieved a strong win over Oman by 105 runs in the 16th match of Group B at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on February 12, 2026, in Pallekele. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 225 for 5, marking their highest total in the tournament so far, and restricted Oman to 120 for 9.

After losing early wickets of Kamil Mishara (8) and Pathum Nissanka (13) during the powerplay, Sri Lanka stabilized their innings with Kusal Mendis and Pavan Rathnayake. Mendis scored a solid 61 off 45 balls, hitting seven fours, while Rathnayake played an explosive innings, making 60 runs off just 28 balls with a strike rate over 214. Together, they formed a partnership of 94 runs for the third wicket, bringing the team past 130 by the 14th over.

Captain Dasun Shanaka then stepped up, scoring a quick 50 off only 20 balls, which included five sixes. Kamindu Mendis contributed late in the innings with an unbeaten 19 off seven balls, helping Sri Lanka surge from 150 to 225 in the final five overs. Oman’s bowlers struggled to keep the runs in check, with an economy rate of 11.25 per over. Sufyan Mehmood and Jiten Ramanandi took two wickets combined but allowed too many runs.

The bowling attack effectively dismantled Oman’s chase.
