Pakistan’s spinner Usman Tariq has recently gained attention due to discussions about his bowling action. There has been considerable debate in the Cricket community about this. Usman has revealed that he owes his place in International cricket to MS Dhoni.
Usman used to be a salesman in Dubai. While working there, he watched the film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, which inspired him to take up cricket.
Motivated by the film, Usman left his sales job and returned to Pakistan to pursue cricket full-time. His efforts were rewarded with a standout performance in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), where he took 20 wickets.
Interestingly, while he was preparing for his wedding last year, he received a call from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about his selection for the national team. Initially, he thought it was a prank, but it was real, marking the start of his international career.
To date, Usman has played four T20 Internationals for Pakistan, taking 11 wickets at an impressive economy rate of under six runs per over.
His journey from a salesman in Dubai to representing Pakistan internationally illustrates how inspiration and determination can change a person’s life.
