Pathum Nissanka scored a century, leading Sri Lanka to an eight-wicket victory over Australia in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. This win marks Sri Lanka’s third consecutive victory, securing their spot in the Super 8 stage of the tournament. Meanwhile, Australia faces potential elimination after suffering their second straight defeat. If Zimbabwe wins their final group stage match, Australia will be sent home, regardless of the outcome of their last game.

In pursuit of 182 runs, Nissanka scored an unbeaten 100 runs in 52 balls, which included 10 fours and 5 sixes. Kusal Mendis contributed with 51 runs off 38 balls, featuring 6 boundaries and 1 six.

Earlier, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head played crucial roles, each scoring 54 and 56 runs, respectively, helping Australia reach a total of 181. Dushan Hemantha claimed three wickets, while Dushmantha Chameera took two.
