India continues to perform strongly in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, securing their fourth win with a convincing result against the Netherlands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

After winning the toss, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav chose to bat. Abhishek Sharma unfortunately fell for a duck for the third time in a row. Ishan Kishan provided some support at the top of the order with a quick 18 runs.

Shivam Dube was the standout player, scoring 66 runs off just 31 balls, including four fours and six sixes. His innings helped India post a total of 193 runs after a sluggish start. He received support from Suryakumar Yadav (34 runs off 28 balls), Hardik Pandya (30 runs off 21 balls), and Tilak Varma. For the Netherlands, Logan van Beek took three wickets, while Aryan Dutt picked up two, including that of Abhishek Sharma in the first over.

The Netherlands put up a good fight, scoring 176 runs in their innings but ultimately fell short by 17 runs. Their top-order batters, including Michael Lewitt (24 runs), Colin Ackerman (23 runs), and Bas de Leede (33 runs off 23 balls), started strong but were unable to convert their starts into bigger scores.

On the bowling front for India, world No.1 T20I bowler Varun Chakravarthy delivered a remarkable performance, taking three wickets for just 14 runs in three overs, while Shivam Dube contributed with two wickets, securing the win for his team.

Who Said What?

Shivam Dube, Player of the Match

“I aimed to hit boundaries and I enjoy hitting sixes. I know bowlers will try to deceive me, so I prepare to face different deliveries. There were times I felt it was right to increase my scoring rate. I’m working hard on my bowling, and the results are showing. T20 can be unpredictable, but I’m also taking wickets.”

Scott Edwards, Netherlands (Losing Captain)

“Credit goes to Aryan for his impressive performance. We felt in the game but might have missed a few chances. Overall, we played good Cricket, but in short tournaments like this, we need to capitalize on key moments. We’ll learn from this and hopefully have better luck next time.”

Suryakumar Yadav, India (Winning Captain)

“I’m pleased with our performances and contributions from all batters. We wanted to bat first and posted a strong score. Although bowling in dew can be tricky, we managed well. Every batter needs to recognize their responsibility, especially in the middle overs, while we have enough power in the lower order to finish games effectively.”
