During the final T20 World Cup 2026 Group D match at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on February 19, 2026, Canada‘s Jaskaran Singh played a crucial role that boosted his team’s chances against Afghanistan. Although neither team could advance to the Super 8 stage, the game became exciting when Jaskaran dismissed the aggressive Rahmanullah Gurbaz and seasoned player Gulbadin Naib in just four balls.

Jaskaran Singh took down Afghanistan’s top order with key wickets of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Gulbadin Naib

The first wicket fell at the 5.3 over mark when Gurbaz, who had already scored 30 runs, tried to attack. Jaskaran bowled a sharp delivery that curved up after pitching. Gurbaz went for a powerful shot but only managed to edge the ball towards deep backward point. Yuvraj Samra made a well-timed run to catch the ball, ending a solid opening partnership of 47 runs. This moment set up an even more significant wicket just three balls later, marking the end of the first six overs.

On the last ball of the over, Jaskaran bowled a perfectly aimed delivery that surprised Gulbadin. The ball skidded low and struck Naib in front of the stumps before he could react. The on-field umpire took a moment to decide, but Canada wisely chose to review the call. UltraEdge confirmed no bat contact, and Ball Tracker showed the ball hitting the top of the leg stump. With three reds on the screen, the initial decision was overturned, and Naib was dismissed for just 1 run off 2 balls, leaving Afghanistan at 49/2 after a promising start.
