Shivam Dube credits MS Dhoni for improvement
Shivam Dube, a teammate of MS Dhoni at CSK, has thanked Dhoni for assisting him with his short ball challenges. Dube has not always received recognition for his vital performances for India, but he earned the Man of the Match award recently with 66 runs against the Netherlands.
During the award ceremony, Dube mentioned that Dhoni helped him when he struggled with short balls. He said,
“When I first came to the IPL, I had difficulty with short balls. I realized I had to work on it to excel. Mahi bhai advised me that hitting a six isn’t always necessary; I could aim for a boundary or a single instead. That advice stuck with me.”
In the match against the Netherlands, Dube started slowly, being 6 runs off 11 balls at one point. He also faced a tight LBW decision but then scored a half-century in just 25 balls.
Although Abhishek Sharma was out for a duck, India’s solid performance, highlighted by a late partnership from Dube (66) and Hardik Pandya (30), helped the team reach 193 runs. Later, Varun Chakravarthy took three wickets, while Dube, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik contributed with two wickets each, ending the Netherlands’ innings at 174 runs.
