India’s women’s Cricket team achieved a notable second T20I series win against Australia, clinching a 17-run victory in the third match on February 21 at Adelaide Oval. The team scored 176/6, led by strong performances from Smriti Mandhana (82 off 55) and Jemimah Rodrigues (59 off 46). In response, Australia managed 159/9 in their 20 overs. Shreyanka Patil (3/22) and Shree Charani (3/32) were standout bowlers. This marked India’s second series victory over Australia’s women’s team.

The last victory for India against Australia was in 2016, and Australia’s previous T20I series loss at home was in 2017, against New Zealand. India also ended Australia’s streak of seven consecutive T20I series wins.

India had a rough start, as Renuka Singh Thakur gave away 18 runs in her first over. However, Shreyanka’s bowling turned the tide, resulting in Australia losing three wickets for just 32 runs.

Georgia Voll (10) and Beth Mooney (6) struggled to settle in, and Ellyse Perry scored only 1 run. Ashleigh Gardner scored 57 runs off 45 balls, but her dismissal in the 16th over shifted the momentum firmly towards India. Shree Charani’s outstanding bowling secured three wickets and confirmed India’s win.

Earlier in the match, Shafali Verma (7) couldn’t make a significant impact. Mandhana and Rodrigues kept the scoreboard moving, putting up a century partnership in just 66 balls. Mandhana was out in the 17th over, ending their 121-run partnership.

Richa Ghosh was brought in to bat and scored 18 runs off 7 balls. The two teams are set to meet again for a three-match ODI series starting on February 24.
