South Africa won against India by 76 runs in their opening Super 8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The South African team scored 187 runs for 7 wickets in their 20 overs, while India managed only 111 runs, getting all out in 18.5 overs. David Miller received the Player of the Match award for his 63 runs from 35 balls, which included 7 fours and 3 sixes.

Miller formed a crucial 97-run partnership with Dewald Brevis, setting a solid foundation for the Proteas. Additionally, Tristan Stubbs contributed with an impressive 44 not out from 24 balls. On the bowling side, Marco Jansen took 4 wickets, and Keshav Maharaj claimed 3 wickets.

Miller expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating, “It’s important to stick to your strengths rather than retreating. I aimed to take on the bowlers during the powerplay when fielders were inside the circle.”

He continued, “I focused on building a partnership and rotating the strike. Hitting straight is more effective on this ground, and we wanted to be aggressive against their spinners. They have top-class bowlers, and we have faced them often. We managed to put them under pressure by putting ourselves in a strong position.”
