South Africa has an exciting home season planned for 2026-27, featuring matches against Australia, Bangladesh, and England. The schedule, released on February 23, outlines a busy calendar filled with Tests, ODIs, and T20Is across the country’s notable venues.
The season kicks off with a three-match ODI series against Australia from September 24 to 30. The first match will take place at Kingsmead Cricket Ground, setting the stage for a much-anticipated clash between the two teams.
After the ODIs, the Proteas will defend their ICC World Test Championship title in a three-match Test series against Australia. The first Test starts on October 9 in Durban, followed by the second Test in Gqeberha from October 18 to 22, and the final Test at Newlands Cricket Ground from October 27 to 31.
Bangladesh will then visit South Africa for another multi-format series. The two-match Test series begins at Wanderers Stadium from November 15 to 19, with the second Test taking place at SuperSport Park from November 23 to 27.
The white-ball segment against Bangladesh starts just days later with a three-match ODI series scheduled from December 1 to 7, taking place in East London, Gqeberha, and Cape Town. This will be followed by three T20Is in Kimberley, Benoni, and Centurion from December 10 to 13.
South Africa will wrap up the home season with a significant three-match Test series against England beginning December 17 at the Wanderers Stadium. The second Test will be held on Boxing Day at SuperSport Park, followed by the New Year’s Test at Newlands Cricket Ground.
The home season concludes with a three-match ODI series against England starting January 10. However, the planned T20I series against England has been postponed for now.
“We look forward to welcoming three strong cricketing nations: Australia, Bangladesh, and England. This season is crucial for our Test and ODI teams. We want to build on our recent achievements in the World Test Championship cycle, including a 1-1 series draw against Pakistan and a 2-0 win against India,” said CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki. He added, “On the white-ball front, we are focused on preparing for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2027. Every ODI series contributes to our preparation as hosts and competitors.”
