The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on February 24. The tournament will feature 12 teams, with England hosting the event. The first match will take place on June 12, where England will face Sri Lanka. The competition will run from June 12 to July 5, 2026.
The Netherlands, Bangladesh, Scotland, and Ireland have qualified for the tournament, joining established teams like New Zealand, India, Australia, England, Pakistan, South Africa, and the West Indies.
Ireland and Scotland will compete at Old Trafford on June 13. Group B includes England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Scotland, Ireland, and the West Indies, while Group A contains Australia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, and the Netherlands.
The Dutch team will make its debut in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, starting against Bangladesh, who performed well during the qualifying matches.
ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta commented on the schedule release, calling it a significant step for women’s cricket. He mentioned that the previous Women’s World Cup in India achieved great success and aims to boost excitement for the upcoming T20 World Cup in June and July.
