Shikhar Dhawan appears to be entering a fortunate phase in his life. Recently, he married his girlfriend Sophie Shine, and this event seems to have brought him good luck. Right after the wedding, Dhawan achieved a significant legal victory at Delhi’s Patiala House Court.
The story behind his legal issues is quite interesting. Dhawan was married to Ayesha Mukherjee in 2012, but not long after, reports suggested that Ayesha threatened to damage his reputation and Cricket career with false stories.
By 2023, the couple divorced, and legal disputes ensued. Ayesha was directed by Australia’s Family Court to sell her property and pay Dhawan a settlement. Dhawan challenged this decision, arguing that the property laws from Australia should not apply in India. The Indian court found Ayesha’s financial documents invalid and ruled that the Australian court had no authority in India.
Judge Devendra Kumar Garg emphasized that marital property laws differ in Australia and India. The court ordered Ayesha to return ₹5 crore 70 lakh to Dhawan, with a 9% annual interest on the repayment amount.
This outcome means Dhawan has effectively secured a significant financial reward.
