Simon Doull suggested that Rahul Tewatia is no longer performing at his best and that the Gujarat Titans should consider replacing him with Sai Kishore. This comes before the Titans face the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 8.
Doull noted that Tewatia doesn’t bowl much these days and is average in the field. He believes that bringing Kishore into the team would provide similar batting strength along with improved bowling and fielding skills.
“They are relying on Rahul Tewatia. I wouldn’t say he is a luxury at No.7 because he isn’t. He serves as a safety net for runs, but he doesn’t bowl anymore and is just okay in the field. With all due respect, his time is over in my view. Bringing in Sai Kishore gives you more options. Even if the batting remains similar, you gain a bowling option and a stronger fielder,” Doull stated on Cricbuzz.
Following two losses at the start of the season, former India pacer Zaheer Khan proposed some changes for Shubman Gill’s team to consider.
“Washington Sundar is one option. If they think Washi isn’t contributing with the bat and need more bowling, they could bring in Sai Kishore. They might also consider Ashok Sharma if they wish to drop a seamer for Kishore. To make two changes, Glenn Phillips could be replaced by Jason Holder. Holder could also come in for Rabada,” Zaheer said.
Doull also recommended adjustments in the Gujarat lineup, with Jason Holder replacing Kagiso Rabada and Kishore taking Tewatia’s place.
“Holder should come in for Rabada. This would add depth to your batting. Replacing Rabada and Tewatia with Kishore and Holder seems the right move. It gives the middle order another chance,” Doull explained.

Zaheer Khan mentioned that Glenn Phillips is a crucial part of the Gujarat team, especially after trading Sherfane Rutherford to the Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2026. He added that Jason Holder could be introduced if the team panics and decides to leave Phillips out. So far, Phillips has scored only 28 runs in the first two matches and hasn’t bowled.
“He (Phillips) is a key player for them. They’ve made an investment by trading for him to secure a spot in the lineup. There are high expectations for him. If they panic, Holder might come in,” Zaheer said.
