The famous Eden Gardens will host its last match of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) when the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) face the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday, May 24, as part of a doubleheader.
Before the match starts, KKR and DC might already know their tournament chances. If the Rajasthan Royals defeat the Mumbai Indians earlier in the day, the match at Eden Gardens won’t affect the playoffs.
In their only meeting this season in New Delhi, KKR won by eight wickets, highlighted by Finn Allen’s century. The last time they played at Eden Gardens was in 2024, where KKR won by seven wickets.
Eden Gardens, Kolkata: Pitch Report
Initially, the Eden Gardens pitches were slow, favoring spinners. Recently, however, they’ve become more suited for batting. The fast outfield also aids batters. Earlier this month, KKR scored 247 runs in their first innings against the Gujarat Titans.

KKR vs DC: Strategies and Match-ups
The Knight Riders have an aggressive batting lineup, featuring Finn Allen and Cameron Green at the top. They will face a Capitals bowling attack that lacks a consistent wicket-taker. Captain Axar Patel and Lungi Ngidi are DC’s highest wicket-takers, both with 10 wickets this season.
Historically, KKR has an advantage over DC in the IPL. They have faced off 36 times since the tournament began in 2008, with KKR winning 20 of those matches. KKR has also won their last four encounters against DC.
