Varma and Sharma gave their versions of the ironic question posed by Arshdeep after India’s win over Pakistan in the final of the continental tournament.

Team India put it past Pakistan in the final of the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday to successfully defend their title in the United Arab Emirates with a 5-wicket win.

Arshdeep Singh and Tilak Varama were seen exchanging a few words following the triumph as they recreated the famous trope.

“Final match you perform, what happening?” the pacer quizzed.

“Nothing happening. There is no one to say. The ground is empty,” Varma blurted out.

“Final match you perform, what happening?” Arshdeep prompted again.

“Lot of happening. Winning, celebration and a lot of happening,” the southpaw who came up with a match-winning knock of 69 runs on the day said.

Arshdeep also took the question to Abhishek Sharma and altered it to fit the batter’s incredible showing at the tournament save for the final game.

“Full tournament you perform, what hapenning?”

“Final match what hapenning?” Sharma said.

“Full tournament you perform, what hapenning?” Arshdeep reiterated.

“Good happening. Final match, sometimes bad happening,” Sharma joked.

India won the toss and chose to bowl first. Pakistan started strong with Shahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman adding 84 runs for the first wicket. Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Farhan after he scored 57 runs off 38 deliveries to reach his half-century.

Saim Ayub contributed 14 runs before falling to Kuldeep Yadav. Mohamed Haris was dismissed for a duck by Axar Patel. Chakravarthy then removed Zaman for 46 runs, and Patel dismissed Hussain Talat for a single run.

Salman Ali Aga was dismissed by Kuldeep for 8 runs, who then took the wicket of Shaheen Afridi for a duck. Yadav completed his four-fer by removing Faheem Ashraf for a duck. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Haris Rauf for 6 runs and closed out the Pakistan innings by taking the wicket of Mohammed Nawaz, who also scored 6 runs.

India did not have a great start as Abhishek Sharma fell to Ashraf for just 5 runs, and skipper Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed by Afridi for 1 run. Ashraf struck again to remove Shubman Gill for 12 runs, while Abrar Ahmed dismissed Sanju Samson for 24 runs.

Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube stabilized the chase with a 60-run partnership before Dube was dismissed for 33 runs by Ashraf. Rinku Singh joined Varma, and together they remained unbeaten on 4 and 69 runs respectively, closing out the chase with two balls to spare.
