The historic Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo was the center of excitement on February 1, 2026. In a crucial Super Sixes match of the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup, India Under-19s achieved a significant victory by defeating Pakistan by 58 runs. The 36th match of the tournament highlighted the Young Blues’ ability to defend a competitive score, leading to celebrations among Indian supporters.

Vedant Trivedi drives India’s innings

After winning the toss, India chose to bat first but faced early trouble. Pakistan’s bowler, Mohammad Sayyam, struck in the 8th over, dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (30) and captain Ayush Mhatre (0) in consecutive balls. India quickly found themselves at 47/3 when Abdul Subhan took out Aaron George.

However, the middle order stepped up. Vedant Trivedi scored a crucial 68 runs off 98 balls, stabilizing the innings. He received support from Vihaan Malhotra (21) and Abhigyan Kundu (16), helping India pass 150 runs.

A key moment came in Powerplay 3 when Kanishk Chouhan (35) and Khilan Patel (21) formed a quick 50-run partnership for the 8th wicket in just 30 balls. This late surge allowed India to finish at 252 all out in 49.5 overs. Subhan was the standout bowler for Pakistan, taking 3 wickets for 33 runs, but the late runs had already put India in a strong position.

India’s bowlers dominate Pakistan’s chase

Pakistan started their innings with intent but quickly lost shape. After losing Sameer Minhas for 9 runs, Hamza Zahoor (42) and Usman Khan laid a promising foundation. Usman scored a well-made half-century (66 off 92 balls), keeping Pakistan in the chase at 151/2.

The game shifted in the 30th over when RS Ambrish took out the Pakistani captain, Farhan Yousaf, for 38. This prompted a rapid decline for Pakistan. Mhatre, who hadn’t scored a run with the bat, made a comeback with the ball, taking 3 important wickets with figures of 3/21.

Chouhan (1/30 in 10 overs) consistently applied pressure, while Patel took 3 wickets for 35 runs. Pakistan crumbled, losing their last 8 wickets for just 43 runs, finishing at 194 in 46.2 overs. As the final wicket fell, fans erupted, marking Pakistan’s exit from the tournament and solidifying India’s position in the under-19 category.
