Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has stated that if Pakistan opts to boycott their match against India in the 2026 T20 World Cup, it could have significant consequences. He noted that this might lead other Cricket nations to avoid playing series with Pakistan or allow their players to join the PSL.
The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is set to take place in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, with the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match scheduled for February 15 in Colombo. However, Pakistan’s government has indicated a boycott of this game.
On his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra discussed the financial impact of Pakistan’s decision, highlighting the potential loss for the ICC and broadcasters from a match that could generate around $250 million in revenue.
“Initially, this is just an estimate. There isn’t an official amount for earnings from a specific game. Currently, there are many rumors and everyone has their own figures, so it’s not accurate to claim that you would make $250 million from this,” Chopra clarified.
