The Indian team, the defending champions, is set to start their T20 World Cup campaign this Saturday against the USA. India has shown impressive form and is seen as the frontrunner for the title. The squad features a mix of experienced players and newcomers, including opener Abhishek Sharma, who has been in great form leading up to the tournament.
Abhishek’s bold batting style and aggressive approach have earned him the starting spot in T20 matches.
Pant Calls Abhishek Sharma the ‘Most Dangerous’
Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has labeled Abhishek Sharma as the “most dangerous batter in International Cricket” due to his fearless gameplay. Speaking at the ‘India Today Conclave,’ Pant noted that Abhishek’s consistent performance as an opener has come through hard work and self-confidence.
Pant stated:
“Going by current form, it is Abhishek Sharma. He is so consistent. Even in the IPL, he has kept performing, which shows his approach is effective and he has confidence. Every day cannot be luck.”
Since debuting in mid-2024, this left-handed batsman has been a standout, accumulating nearly 1,300 runs in 38 matches with a striking rate of 195.
Pant also shared insights on the lasting impact of former coach Rahul Dravid, whose guidance has shaped his approach to the game.

Pant added:
“The key is not to overthink and just stay grounded. Rahul (Dravid) bhai always said: ‘Rishabh, no matter what, try to remain the same person after scoring a hundred or a zero.’”
The Indian wicketkeeper recognized that managing emotions is a significant challenge for athletes, especially in a high-stakes sport like cricket.
Pant concluded:
“As an athlete, staying true to yourself is tough. Emotions can overwhelm you, but that advice sticks with me. Whether I score zero or a hundred, I want to stay the same. Sometimes, the disappointment of getting out sticks with me more than the joy of scoring runs.”
