Young Indian cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is entering a crucial stage in his career. The talented teenager has opted out of his Class 10 board exams to focus on Cricket. Following his impressive performance in the Under-19 World Cup, he is now training for the upcoming IPL.

Vaibhav hails from Tajpur, Bihar, and is a student at Modesty School, Tajpur. His board exams were set to take place between February 17 and March 11, with all formalities completed by his school. After getting his admit card, he had chosen Podar International School as his exam center.

Due to his participation in cricket matches, Vaibhav missed a significant amount of school and couldn’t prepare adequately for the exams. After discussions with his father, Sanjeev Sooryavanshi, and family, they decided it would be best for him to skip the exams this year.

U19 World Cup Star Gears Up for IPL 2026

Vaibhav became one of India’s standout young players during the Under-19 World Cup, contributing significantly to the team’s success. He was the second-highest run-scorer, amassing 439 runs across seven matches, with an impressive average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49. His remarkable performance included one century and three fifties, with a highest score of 175.

One of his notable achievements is setting a new record for the most sixes in Under-19 World Cup matches, hitting 30 sixes and surpassing the previous record of 18 set by Dewald Brevis in 2022.

Throughout his career, Vaibhav has positioned himself as a top Under-19 ODI player, leading India in this format with 1,412 runs from 25 innings, boasting a batting average of 56.48 and a strike rate of over 165. He has also scored four centuries and seven half-centuries.

His outstanding performance has led IPL scouts to select him for the Royals team, providing him with a significant opportunity to showcase his talent in franchise cricket.

Vaibhav’s choice to forgo his exams highlights his commitment to cricket. With his talent and determination, he is likely to achieve even greater success in the future.
