Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has highlighted that the upcoming T20 World Cup match against Pakistan in Colombo could be a tough test for India. The match is set for Sunday at the R Premadasa Stadium, with significant attention surrounding it due to events outside the field.

This match carries high expectations, and Pakistan enters with confidence and good form. Karthik mentioned to Cricbuzz that the pitch in Colombo tends to favor slower bowlers, which could challenge India’s batting lineup.

“The game against Pakistan will be one of India’s toughest challenges in recent times. Pakistan is coming into this match with strong competitiveness, especially since they are familiar with the local conditions. Their chances of troubling India are greater now than in the past. On these Colombo pitches, India’s batting will face a real test,” Karthik explained.

“India’s performance against spin on slower pitches is not as strong as it is on typical batting-friendly surfaces. The statistics show a clear difference. This is one area they need to approach with caution,” he added.

Although historical records may not favor Pakistan, their play in the T20 World Cup 2026 indicates they are finding their form at the right time.

Pakistan’s main strength in Colombo could be their bowling attack, led by the talented Usman Tariq. On pitches that are likely to produce spin and inconsistent bounce, his variations could create problems for the Indian team.
