India won against Pakistan by 61 runs to qualify for the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistan, chasing a target of 176 runs, was all out for 114 in 18 overs. Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, and Varun Chakravarthy each took two wickets. Ishan Kishan earned the Player of the Match title for his impressive score of 77 runs off 40 balls, including 10 fours and 3 sixes. India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, praised his team’s performance.

“This victory is for India. We maintained our style of Cricket. Ishan has been consistent in his batting recently, and he stepped up when needed,” he stated.

Suryakumar commented on the middle overs when wickets fell.

“We faced a challenge in the middle, but that’s part of T20. Tilak, Dube, and Rinku played well. When we scored 175, we felt it was beyond par. It could have been closer if we had managed 155. Hardik’s new ball strategy and Bumrah’s skills showed why he is among the best bowlers. Everyone contributed significantly,” he added.

Regarding future matches, he said, “We haven’t focused on that yet. We’ll take some time to regroup and discuss our next game after getting to Ahmedabad,” he concluded.
