Kris Srikkanth has addressed the intense rivalry between India and Pakistan, suggesting that the excitement surrounding their matches should be toned down. After India won the T20 World Cup 2026 on February 15, he noted that even a less-experienced Indian team was capable of defeating Pakistan, whose performance in Colombo was lacking.
India achieved a convincing 61-run victory over Pakistan in what was anticipated as another intense matchup, but it turned out to be one-sided. This win improved India’s T20 World Cup record to 8-1 against Pakistan and secured their place in the Super 8 stage. On his YouTube channel, Srikkanth expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of Pakistan’s squad, which did not provide a strong challenge against India.
The former India selector suggested that the excitement around Shaheen Shah Afridi has diminished, and Pakistan is struggling to find a quality fast bowler. He criticized the current batting lineup, stating that the team should avoid T20 Cricket as long as Babar Azam remains their key player.
“The hype around Shaheen Afridi is gone. Have you seen Pakistan like this? There used to be greats like Waqar Younis, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, and many others. Now, they’re struggling to find one good fast bowler. Is cricket really in such a decline? And in batting, there’s no reliable player. If Babar Azam is your main player, you might as well skip T20s,” Srikkanth remarked.
