The teams that have reached the Super Eights of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will automatically qualify for the next tournament in Australia and New Zealand in 2028.
Pakistan’s win against Namibia finalized the Super Eights lineup. Joining Pakistan from Group A are India, while Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe (Group B), West Indies and England (Group C), and South Africa and New Zealand (Group D) also move on to the next stage of the 20-team tournament.
As co-hosts, Australia and New Zealand automatically qualify for the 2028 event. All teams that advanced to the Super Eights, including New Zealand, now have their spots confirmed. The rest of the 12 automatic qualifiers will include the next three highest-ranked teams in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings as of March 9, the day after the final.
Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Ireland are expected to take those spots, as they have no matches that could affect their rankings before the deadline.
The remaining eight slots will be filled through a regional qualification process, based on the strength of teams in each region.
