The Super 8 Group 1 match between India and South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad featured a standout moment during the powerplay. Corbin Bosch made an impressive catch to dismiss Abhishek Sharma, nearly colliding with Keshav Maharaj. This catch came at a critical time, putting India in a tough spot while chasing a target of 187 runs from the Proteas in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

South Africa, led by Aiden Markram, set a solid score of 187/7 after winning the toss and choosing to bat first. With the pressure on, India needed a stable start but they were shaken by some early wickets.

Bosch’s stunning catch to dismiss Abhishek Sharma

Marco Jansen delivered a clever knuckle ball that Abhishek couldn’t read. After committing to his shot, Abhishek mistimed it badly, sending the ball high into the night sky but not far.

From mid-wicket, Bosch raced to his right, while Maharaj quickly moved back from mid-on. There was a brief moment of confusion as neither player called for the catch clearly. They nearly collided under the descending ball. Despite the difficulty, Bosch maintained focus and managed to secure the catch safely.

The packed stadium fell silent. India had been shaken, along with the crowd. What could have been a costly mistake turned into a fantastic opportunity for the Proteas.
