Former Pakistan players Mohammad Amir, Basit Ali, and Ahmed Shehzad praised Virat Kohli after the show’s host highlighted his impressive T20I accomplishments. In the first Super 8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, South Africa defeated the Indian team by 76 runs, struggling to chase 188 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Amir pointed out that the Indian batters failed to adapt to the game’s demands, which South Africa took advantage of. He emphasized the significance of Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the lineup.
“India were exposed today. They chased for the first time in this World Cup. They are forgetting this is not the same team without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. They used to play according to the game situation,” he said.
Amir also criticized the strategy of head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav.
“India, like Pakistan, are making the mistake of sending in three left-handers while opposing teams are fielding off-spinners. Losing two wickets early makes chasing 180 runs difficult. Dube played, but Rinku never got the chance to bat. You left out Kuldeep and Axar against players who struggled against spinners. No matter how strong a team is, the right combinations matter,” he added.
The host then shared Virat Kohli’s record in successful 150+ run chases during T20 World Cup history.
“India has successfully chased targets over 150 three times in the T20 World Cup, with Virat scoring 70, 82, and 82,” he said.
Amir, Basit, Shehzad, and the audience were impressed by Kohli’s achievements, and they all applauded the legendary Indian cricketer.
