Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan has addressed false rumors and quotes regarding his personal life, stating that he has never held onto past issues. This clarification comes shortly after his marriage to Sophie Shine, amidst much speculation on social media.

Dhawan recently married Sophie Shine in a private ceremony, marking a new phase in his life after his separation from his ex-wife, Aesha Dhawan, in October 2023. However, the celebration was overshadowed by a social media post that claimed Dhawan said his ex-wife once told him that no one would marry him after their separation, suggesting his remarriage was a response to that statement.

This claim quickly gained traction, with various accounts sharing it. Dhawan denied ever making such comments, criticizing the spread of false information and asking people not to link him to these baseless stories. He took to social media to address the issue directly, expressing disappointment over the incorrect statements attributed to him and reaffirming his commitment to positivity.

“I have seen some social media posts attributing a disappointing statement about my personal life to me. I have never carried baggage from the past, either on the field or off it. I believe in positivity while respecting my past,” Dhawan wrote on social media.

He further noted that he views this time as a fresh start and appreciates the support he has received.

“This is a new chapter in my life, and I feel truly grateful for the love and blessings from my fans, friends, family, well-wishers, and the media. I urge people not to use my name for clickbait with false and harmful statements on social media. Let’s spread love and positivity. Thank you!” he said.

Dhawan and Sophie Shine’s relationship became public in May 2025 after dating for over a year, and they announced their engagement in January. They were first seen together during a Champions Trophy 2025 match in Dubai.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Sophie is an Irish product consultant who works as a Second Vice President at Northern Trust Corporation, a financial services firm based in the US. She has qualifications in Marketing and Management from the Limerick Institute of Technology and completed her schooling at Castleroy College in Ireland.
