Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has expressed concerns about Shivam Dube’s bowling skills and his role as an all-rounder in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. He believes that Dube’s bowling may become a liability for Team India during crucial moments.

Dube was primarily selected for his ability to hit powerful shots, but his bowling has faced criticism. Kaif highlighted the risks of using Dube in important overs, suggesting it could negatively impact the team’s performance.

“In the 10th over, you should be looking to attack and take wickets. Instead, Dube bowled defensively, which isn’t the way to go,” Kaif stated on his YouTube channel.

“We don’t need an all-rounder who bowls at 120 kph. He may take a wicket here and there but generally gives away runs, even conceding four sixes in one over against West Indies,” he added.

Kaif’s comments highlight the inconsistency in Dube’s bowling. Although he scored 42 runs against South Africa, his bowling performance was poor, as he allowed 32 runs in just two overs, despite taking a wicket.

India has utilized him as a sixth bowling option during the tournament, leading to mixed outcomes. Over three matches, he has taken four wickets, but his economy rate stands at 10.63.

While Dube’s batting remains a strong point, Kaif’s remarks suggest that his bowling might not be as reliable.
