Sachin Tendulkar was ruled out LBW by umpire Steve Bucknor during the India vs Australia Test series in 2003-04. This decision sparked debate among fans and former players. Bucknor had been associated with other controversial calls against Tendulkar, adding to the discontent.

Now, at 79, Bucknor has revisited that controversial decision. He acknowledged that Tendulkar should not have been out, stating that the delivery was going past the stumps. The former umpire accepted complete responsibility for the mistake.

“I was wrong to give Tendulkar out LBW, and it is still discussed today,” Bucknor said in comments released by the West Indies Cricket Umpires’ Association.

“People still wonder why I made that call and if he was actually out. Mistakes happen. I recognize it was an error and we must move on,” he added.
