R Ashwin Suggests RR Should Host All IPL 2026 Matches at Home

Cricket legend and former Rajasthan Royals player R Ashwin has raised concerns about the team’s decision to host home games at different locations.

The Rajasthan Royals will play their first three home matches at Barasapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, while the venue for the rest of their home games is still to be confirmed. Traditionally, the Royals have alternated between Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur and Barasapara Stadium. This year, they have won only two out of six matches played in Guwahati.

Ashwin believes that sticking to one venue, even if it’s in Guwahati, would benefit the Rajasthan Royals.

“I thought their team improved with the addition of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. They have many strengths, but also challenges. Not consistently playing at one venue isn’t ideal. I understand Riyan Parag is the captain and will receive support in Assam, but the team should play the entire season at a single location,” Ashwin mentioned on his YouTube channel.

Ashwin also compared this situation to his experience as captain of Punjab Kings, who played some matches at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Over the years, Punjab Kings have switched their home venues, with some matches held at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.

“When I was the captain of Kings XI Punjab (Punjab Kings), playing a few matches in Indore was significant. I know there are factors like gate collections and fan support. The Royals have a great brand and ecosystem, which I appreciate,” he added.

The Rajasthan Royals will kick off their season against Chennai Super Kings on March 30 at Barasapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
