England’s white-ball captain Harry Brook and teammate Jacob Bethell received warnings following a nightclub incident in Wellington during their 2025 tour of New Zealand.

While participating in the ODI series against New Zealand in October, Brook had an altercation with a nightclub bouncer. Initially, he claimed he was alone to shield his teammates. The Cricket Regulator later investigated the situation and chose to issue warnings to Brook and Bethell regarding their conduct.

“As a result of this investigation, the Regulator has issued a caution notice to Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell concerning their behavior that night. No further action will be taken regarding Josh Tongue,” the Cricket Regulator stated.

The nightclub incident drew attention from the media, raising concerns about England’s off-field behavior. This occurred just before England’s third ODI against New Zealand, which they lost, resulting in a 3-0 series defeat.

After a disappointing Ashes series against Australia, where England lost 4-1, Brook was fined GBP 30,000 and received a final warning from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). He also publicly apologized for his actions.

England’s off-field behavior has been under scrutiny lately. Besides the nightclub incident, there were reports of Test players drinking heavily in Noosa, Queensland, during the Ashes series.

Despite these issues, England finished their winter on a positive note, winning two white-ball series in Sri Lanka and reaching the semi-finals of the 2026 T20 World Cup. They narrowly lost to eventual champions India by seven runs, with Bethell scoring 105 runs off 48 balls while chasing 254.

Currently, Bethell is with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as he plays in his second season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
